Tanzania Wildlife Safaris in Selous Game Reserve

Selous Game Reserve contains about one third of all the wild dogs - often called 'painted dogs' - in the world, the largest concentrations of wildlife of any park in Africa, Tanzania's largest population of elephant as well as large numbers of hippopotamus, buffalo and giraffe. The Rufiji River Delta is a striking feature of the game reserve. It connects the Great Ruaha River with the Rufiji River and not far from the park boundaries empties out into the Indian Ocean.

The best time for wildlife safaris in Selous Game Reserve is during the dry season which sets in during June to November where elephants, buffaloes, antelopes and many other animals come out of the bush at that time in search of water, which makes game viewing along the rivers and lakes become extremely astonishing. This is also the best time to admire the predators. December to February is good for game viewing and botanical experience but can be rather hot and humid.
